Schiphol Airport & KLM Complete 1st SAS E-TaxiBot Operation

Amsterdam, [September 25, 2025] – Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and KLM have successfully completed the first-ever operation of an electric TaxiBot (E-TaxiBot), marking a significant step forward in achieving safer and more sustainable ground operations.

During the demonstration, the E-TaxiBot reached a speed of 21 knots while smoothly and silently towing a KLM Boeing 737. The performance showcased its potential to reduce fuel consumption, lower emissions, and minimize engine-related noise — supporting both environmental objectives and the protection of airport employees’ health.

This milestone was made possible through close collaboration between TLD, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Smart Airport Systems (SAS), Schiphol, KLM, and local partners. “We can stamp it and approve it!” said KLM’s Chief Pilot in Command.

With this achievement, Schiphol and KLM reaffirm their strategic commitment to greener aviation and safer working conditions for ground staff.
